Math Mats / Cover Up Games

Math Mats –
     Materials:
              One card per child
              Markers or tokens
Here is an example from this website. HERE COME THE FIRE TRUCKS – When you open this file you will see a card with
several rows of Fire trucks. Copy this card, laminate. Each child in the group will need his own card. You may use this card
to practice any skill or concept. You will need an input device. I use programmed cubes or cards. If we are practicing the
letters 1,2,3,4,5,6 then I mark one cube with these numbers or use a regular die. Each child needs a math mat and tokens.
In turn each child rolls the die. If he can identify the number then he covers one fire truck. Children continue in turn until
someone fills all his squares. These mats can also be used to practice letters, sight words, punctuation marks, etc. Just
change the programming on your input device.
